Sankey Seniors Social Club Needs Volunteers

An over 50’s socialising club in Hood Manor Great Sankey are looking for volunteers to help run their group.

Sankey Seniors are an over 50’s socialising club, who meet fortnightly on Fridays from 2pm to 4pm at Hood Manor Community Centre off Dorchester Road. It was established in February 2013 with the support of Great Sankey Parish Council.

Councillor Sue Watson, an organiser of the group said

“We are now well established with approximately 30 regular members, our group provides companionship to residents by offering refreshments, crafts and games (no  physical exertion needed!) and regular guest speakers on topics of interest. The group have recently enjoyed talks from The Dogs’ Trust, charity assistance for women in Bangladesh and Macmillan cancer charity.

We also organise coach trips throughout the year and have visited Oswaldtwistle Mill, St Helens World of Glass, Anderton Boat Lift and Llandudno.

In order to continue with our success, we require additional volunteers, people don’t have to commit to volunteering every fortnight, any help is appreciated.

If you’re interested in coming to the group, you’ll find a very warm welcome.”
