Great Sankey Summer Fun Day was a huge success!

Great Sankey Summer Fun Day on Saturday 16th June at Tim Parry Recreation Ground was a huge success.

Lynne Brereton Deputy Clerk at Great Sankey Parish Council explained

Great Sankey Summer Fun Day was once again a big hit, there was a fantastic turn out. We had amazing performances on the outdoor festival stage, brilliantly compered by Steve Lewis from Radio Warrington. We would like to thank the Hayloft in Bold Heath for providing the hay bales, which were a wonderful addition. A special thanks to Park Road PTA for providing fantastic food and to Nigel Catlow, and the scouts for litter picking at the event. Everyone pulled together, and it was great to see everyone having fun. Even the heavy down pour at the end didn’t dampen spirits – it was wonderful to see people laughing and squelching as they left.

Families enjoyed the free zorbs, laser tag, donkey rides, carousel, face painting, inflatables, archery, land train and birds of prey. There were over 40 stalls, including the Scouts, Rainbows, Whittle Hall JFC, Warrington Disability, NAWC, W.I, Sankey Seniors, Great Sankey Children’s Centre, Live Wire and lots more!

This year’s Fun Day theme was Heroes, which tied in with 2019 being the First World War Centenary. Children were encouraged to attend the Fun Day dressed as their Hero to be in with a chance of winning tickets for their family to go to Gullivers World. The winner of the competition was Alfie Fogg, who not only impressed the judges with his costume, but also put an impressive display of his superpowers.

Next year’s Fun Day will be on Saturday 15th June at Tim Parry Recreation Ground. Great Sankey Parish Council are already busy planning an even bigger and better event.
