Great Sankey Parish Council install three silent silhouettes to honour war sacrifice

To mark the centenary of the end of the first world war Great Sankey Parish Council have placed three life-sized ‘silhouettes’ around Great Sankey

The silent silhouettes commemorate the 1.1 million British and Empire Service men and women who died during the war.

One has been placed on Lingley Green, one on Sankey Way Roundabout and one outside Whittle Hall Community Centre.

A donation of £750 was given to the Royal British Legion for the purchase of the silhouettes and is part of their ‘Thank you’ campaign to remember all of those involved in the war effort.
