21st May and 1st June – Learn to be a Lifesaver with free Defibrillator training

When a person has a cardiac arrest there are a few vital minutes to save them. Early resuscitation and prompt defibrillation (within 1 – 2 minutes) can result in a higher than 60% chance of survival. Great Sankey Parish Council have teamed up with North West Ambulance Service to offer free Automated Defibrillator Training at Tim Parry Community Centre, Great Sankey.

The Parish Council recently purchased and fitted an automated external defibrillator at Tim Parry Community Centre and are now pleased to be working with North West Ambulance Service to offer free lifesaving training on how to use the device. The simple training sessions are only 2 hours long and will be held on Tuesday 21st May from 12.30pm to 2.30pm and Saturday 1st June from 10am to 12pm. All people have to do to book their place is either e-mail the Parish Council on [email protected] or telephone 01925 712279 and confirm which date they would like to attend.

Peter Watson Chairman of Great Sankey Parish Council said

The defibrillator is intended to be used by untrained members of the public. After phoning 999 an ambulance operator will give a code to open the defibrillator box and instruct people on how to use it safely and effectively.  The aim of the training sessions is for more people to feel confident enough to step in and help when the worst does happen which will ultimately save lives
