Volunteers cook a Christmas Dinner for Sankey Seniors

Volunteers who run an over 50’s socialising club from Hood Manor Community Centre in Great Sankey organised a festive treat for their thirty regular group members.

The team of dedicated volunteers cooked a three course Christmas lunch followed by mince pies.

As well as lunch, the group enjoyed entertainment provided by Crossroads Boyband and Father Christmas also paid a visit with presents for all the group.

Councillor Sue Watson, a volunteer of the group said “The afternoon was a huge success, the Christmas dinner was beautiful, and it was a real pleasure to see everyone enjoying themselves and having a dance”

“We are so lucky to have our team of kind-hearted volunteers; they work so hard throughout the year to provide a wonderful club for members of our community to enjoy”

Sankey Seniors meet fortnightly on Fridays from 2pm to 4pm at Hood Manor Community Centre, off Dorchester Road.  The group provides companionship to residents by organising refreshments, crafts, games and regular guest speakers.
