Chapelford Community Meeting

Chapelford Community Group is holding its annual meeting on Thursday 16th November 2017 at Sainsbury’s Café at 7.00pm.

The community group is looking at working with partners and local residents to make sure the Chapelford area is a happy, thriving and dynamic community for all people living and working in the area. They have organised community events on Dakota Park and the Christmas fayre for the last couple of years. They would like to meet with as many people as they can to get your views and ideas for the local community.

Please come along to their annual meeting to find out what’s going on in your community, how to get involved; meet other residents and Councillors.

Refreshments are available and all are welcome.

The Great Sankey Travelling Fun Day

The hugely popular Great Sankey Summer Fun Day is set to travel next year and will be bringing a carnival full of entertainment to Sankey residents on Saturday 16 June 2018 at Tim Parry Recreation Ground.

For the past three years the free family fun day has been held at Sankey Valley St James School, the event, which has been funded and organised by Great Sankey Parish has gone from strength to strength and is now a popular social fixture in resident’s calendars.

Cllr Dan Price said “Great Sankey is a large area and the Parish Council would like as many residents as possible to get involved with and benefit from such a hugely enjoyable free event. We envisage the future of the Fun Day as a travelling carnival that will help strengthen community cohesion throughout the whole of Great Sankey”

“This year’s Star Wars theme went down a storm with the crowds and for next year we have decided to set a comic book hero theme”

The Fun Day will be held at Tim Parry Recreation Ground for 2018 and 2019, if you would like to have a stall, or if you have a local group that would like to perform at the event please e-mail us on [email protected]

Sneak Peek: Work is well underway at Tim Parry Community Centre as part of £300k refurbishment.

For the last eight weeks, Great Sankey Parish Council has been working on the major refurbishment of Tim Parry Community Centre.

Today we popped down to the Centre to get a sneak peek of some of the work that has already been completed.

Peter Watson, Chairman of Great Sankey Parish Council said “It has been a lot of work and we are very impressed by the changes so far. We hope that those who use the facility will be impressed by the wow factor”.

The main hall will be completed by the last week in September and Cromdale Way Pre-school, who are one of the groups which operate from the Centre are very excited about using the new facilities.

“The Centre was out dated and very gloomy before, we’re looking forward to using the bright modern facilities and it will be a delight to see the children’s reaction to the new look” said Dawn Mullin, Manager of Cromdale Way Pre-school.

Work will now begin on transforming the annexe room and building the new front extension.

Once the refurbishment is complete, hopefully by the end of October it will look like a brand-new Centre.

 

Great Sankey Summer Fun Day Was A Huge Success!

Great Sankey Parish Council’s third Summer Fun Day was a great success with families flocking to Sankey Valley St James Primary School for free fun and games.

Live entertainment was provided by ViBe Dance, Sarah Smith Zumba, Ultimate Party People, Chapelford Primary School Choir, The Park Road Trio, Sankey Valley St James School Choir and Blu Shift. There were also bouncy castles, face-painting, Zorbs, climbing wall, archery, birds of prey, a dog show, and delicious hot food.

“This is the third year that Great Sankey Parish Council have organised and funded Great Sankey Summer Fun Day” explained Peter Watson, Chairman of Great Sankey Parish Council.  “The event is getting bigger and better each year, the reaction we have from families attending the day was really positive and we’re now finding it’s an event that people are putting into their calendar. The Parish Council are delighted to give back to the community and provide a free, fun day that celebrates the talent and community spirit we have in Great Sankey. Once again we went to town with the event and laid on loads for people to do!”

The sun played its part on the Summer Fun Day, giving people the opportunity to sit on the grass and at the picnic tables to enjoy the entertainment and food.
