PARISH/2026/07/67: To accept the draft Licence to Occupy and send to Whittle Hall
Junior Football Club for comment (Open Spaces Act 1906, s10).
6. To consider planning applications received by the Council and decide if any

PCSO report. This was noted; a question had been asked about who is responsible for
managing the small pond at the corner of Mary Ann Meadows. The pond is being fished
by various people but is overgrown and would benefit from being cleared out. There is
interest from residents in helping with any work needed but this would need permission
from the appropriate organisation. Cllr Hussain offered to approach WBC for information.
Electoral review. This review is for the borough ward boundaries; it is still expected that
there will be a Community Governance Review to consider the Parish ward boundaries at
the conclusion of this one. The draft proposals include transferring an area currently in
Burtonwood and Winwick ward into Great Sankey North and Whittle Hall ward to prevent
neighbouring houses on the Omega development ending up in different wards or for the
current boundaries to run through new houses. Members agreed to write in support of this
proposal.
PARISH/2026/07/68: To respond to the Electoral Review in support of the proposal to
transfer and existing area south-east of Borsodi Boulevard which is currently within
Burtonwood and Winwick ward into Great Sankey North and Whittle Hall ward.
8. To receive verbal reports from Parish Councillors and from Borough Councillors on
items of note within the Parish.
Cllr Catlow reported that travellers have been in the area recently and advised vigilance
for the council’s open spaces.
Cllr M Hussain informed members that the flood reparation works in Sankey Bridges has
now been completed and the new pedestrian crossing on Cromwell Avenue installed. He
also noted that the Armed Forces Day on Crosfields Recreation Ground had been
extremely successful, and Great Sankey Parish Council had been mentioned several
times for the financial support given for the event.
Cllr Watson thanked the Deputy Clerk for her considerable admin support for Sankey
Summer fu Day and Cllr Morley for her magnificent job on the day as Event Manager
which made the day run smoothly and successfully. Members were informed that £65 had
been raise from the Dog Show which had been given to Guide Dogs for the Blind. The
monies raised from the fairground will be confirmed at the next Community Projects
Committee and given to agreed charities.
Cllr Watson also requested that the council considers installing air conditioning in the
Parish Office and Tim Parry Annexe as a matter of urgency as the heat waves being
experienced make working conditions intolerable. It was agreed that quotes should be
sought as soon as possible.

GREAT SANKEY PARISH COUNCIL
Minutes of meeting: Wednesday 8th July 2026
Tim Parry Community Centre
PARISH/2026/07/69: To obtain quotes for air conditioning for Tim Parry Annexe and the
Parish Office.
9. To exclude public and press for consideration of the following items because of the
confidential nature of the business to be discussed.
No members of public present.
10. Sankey Station House lease update
There was no further update; negotiations have stalled awaiting a response from Arch Co.
The Finance Committee requested attendance of Sankey Station CIC at their next
meeting on 4 August to discuss the project. It was agreed to ask the project manager and
architect to the meeting along with any other councillor who may be interested. The
meeting will be held in Tim Parry Annexe as the usual location of the Parish Office is not
large enough. The Clerk will liaise about an alternative date should the 4 August be
unsuitable.
11. To receive confidential information from the Head Gardener
Councillors were informed that the Grounds Team has been successful in its efforts to
have Tim Parry Recreation Ground designated with a Green Falg Award. This is a
prestigious international quality mark for parks and green spaces, and the team is proud
to achieve the award. The information is currently confidential until the formal
announcement has been made next week, but once this date has passed a press release
will be released and a flagpole erected on site which is part of the conditions of the award.
